Saved Newborn Life with Early Danger Sign Detection
During a routine Day-3 HBNC visit, Baiahunlang noticed a baby breathing over 65 times per minute with mild chest indrawing. The mother thought the baby was simply restless. Drawing on her HBYC Refresher Training, Baiahunlang recognised signs of possible neonatal pneumonia, arranged skin-to-skin contact for warmth, and coordinated immediate transport to the PHC. The paediatrician confirmed the early referral likely saved the baby's life.
100% Institutional Delivery Rate in Village
Over 40% of deliveries in Ridalin's village were happening at home. She visited every pregnant woman from the first trimester, accompanied them to their first ANC visit, and addressed each family's specific concerns — explaining JSY benefits, arranging community transport, and involving mothers-in-law in counselling. Over 18 months, every pregnant woman in her area delivered at a health facility with skilled attendance.
