What is MECDM?
A Mission, Not an Organization
MECDM facilitates convergence across four government departments to create a unified approach to early childhood development in Meghalaya.
Our shared mission is to ensure every child experiences nurturing care and optimal development through collaboration with departments and strong involvement of community-based organizations.

Addressing Challenges Across the Life-Cycle
The Mission addresses interconnected challenges across pregnancy, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood to break the cycle of poor health, malnutrition, and limited opportunities.
From low birth spacing and anaemic mothers during pregnancy, to poor learning outcomes and high rates of stunting in childhood, to substance use and low workforce readiness in youth — these challenges are deeply connected. MECDM takes a life-cycle approach to address them holistically.
